About Us

Welcome to our website HaresFur! We are UK based dealers located in Leicestershire who specialise  in Scandinavian design. We look to offer our customers high quality, original, design-led Nordic items in glass, ceramics, metalware (mostly bronze or silver), teak, textiles, jewellery and art. Along with my husband, Kevin, we have been collectors of such items for about 20 years and have traded since 2018 both at antiques fairs and online. We source most of our items directly from the Nordic countries. And we sell worldwide.

We take the name Haresfur from the famous layered matt glaze that is often found on Scandinavian studio ceramics which has the look of wet animal fur. Our main focus is on Nordic items from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland from the second half of the Twentieth Century as that is the period that these countries had the biggest influence on international style and design. They helped to shape the modernist style that became typical in the mid-century period with its sleek designs, freeform shapes and unadorned surfaces. You will also find some Scandinavian items for sale from the earlier part of the Twentieth Century, especially the Art-Deco period of the 1920s and 30s.

We also have an interest in European modernist design, particularly things associated with the Bauhaus, de Stijl, and the Amsterdam School. We also seek to highlight the work of women designers too, some famous, others less so. And you will also find a section on international studio ceramics, with a particular interest in French, Dutch, Italian and British mid-century ceramicists.

We stock beautiful, stylish objects from everyday mass-produced homewares to iconic, exhibition pieces to one-off works of art and unique items. Whether you are a collector, an enthusiast for modernist design, looking to decorate your home in a scandi style, want a gift for someone, or just like something you see here we hope we will have to have something for you to love.

We update the stock on our website at the beginning of each month and usually have a small top-up mid-month. Subscribers to our free newsletter will always get an early preview of new stock before they are listed on the website.  We also use the newsletter and our blog posts on the home page to keep you updated on fairs in the UK where we will be selling. From time to time we will profile the work of a particular designer or studio with a short, illustrated article on our blog post, often linked to related items we have for sale. You can also follow us on instagram, pinterest and twitter. Links can be found on the home-page.

Happy browsing. Do make and enquiry if you are interested in buying something or want more information on an item with no obligation to buy. We do take card payments via a secure external system.
