Henri Goetz (1909-89) was born in New York but later went to study painting at the Académie de la Grand Chaumière. After spending World War II as part of the French Resistance (mainly forging identity documents) he had to flee when the gestapo moved in on his circle. He was introduced to modernist art by Victor Bauer and specialisted in print-making.
