David Hammond engraved glass vase commemorating the opening of the new Coventry Cathedral for Thomas Webb c1960s.

Excellent condition.

David Hammond (1931-2002) trained in Stourbridge and at the Royal College of Art. He began working at the established Stourbridge glassmaking firm Thomas Webb in the early 1950s. This was interrupted by his national service. He returned there in 1956. He specialised in intaglio and engraved glass though also designed some freeform vases very much in the Scandinavian style. He worked for Thomas Webb for over 30 years before retiring in 1986.
