Per Linnemann-Schmidt Palshus vase, Denmark c1960s. Signed PL-S with studio mark and model number 207. A substantial, statement piece.
Per and Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt established their ceramics studio in Denmark in 1947. Their pieces from the 1950s were produced with simple shapes and single colour matt glazes to highlight the emphasis they gave to form and beauty. Later pieces made from the 1960s used surface decoration and chamotte in the clay to produce a more rugged look that was fashionable during that decade. Per stopped producing ceramics after Annelise's death in 1972 and spent the rest of his career as a sculptor. Their work is now recognised as amongst the finest post-war Danish studio ceramics.
