Nils Landberg small Expo vase Orrefors Sweden 1940s

Nils Landberg Expo vase for Orrefors, Sweden in dark red/brown g;ass. Signed Expo. NU 2435. This number dates the piece to 1941. Has something of the tulip shape that was to become prominent in his later designs.

Excellent used condition. Molded indent on foot rim from manufacture.

Nils Landberg (1907-91) studied at the Industrial Design School in Gothenberg before joining Orrefors in 1925. He worked for them until his retirement in 1972. He is best known for his tulip glass goblets on tall, improbably thin looking stems but designed a full range of glass items for Orrefors. His work is held in museums worldwide.
