Black and white guilloche enamel brooch on silver gilt depicting two small flowers and two leaves. Designed by Aksel Holmsen, Norway c 1950s.
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition with no damage to the enamel. It is stamped Sterling Norway 925S (for Sterling silver) and has the maker's mark.
Aksel Holmsen trained with David-Andersen from 1889 before establishing his own workshop in Oslo. His son Ivar joined the company in 1942 and took over the company in 1950. The company, which closed in 1971, produced filigree as well as modernist enamelled and plain silver jewellery.
