About Us

Welcome to my website HaresFur! HaresFur is UK based and located in Leicestershire and specialises in Scandinavian design. The aim is to offer customers high quality, original, design-led Nordic items in glass, ceramics, metalware (mostly bronze or silver), teak, textiles, jewellery and art. Along with my husband, Kevin, we have been collectors of Scandinavian items for about 20 years and I have traded since 2018 both at antiques fairs and here online. I source most of the items directly from the Nordic countries. And I sell worldwide.

The name Haresfur comes from the famous layered matt glaze that is often found on Scandinavian studio ceramics which has the look of wet animal fur. The main focus is on Nordic items from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland from the second half of the Twentieth Century as that is the period that these countries had the biggest influence on international style and design. They helped to shape the modernist style that became typical in the mid-century period with its sleek designs, freeform shapes and unadorned surfaces. You will also find some Scandinavian items for sale from the earlier part of the Twentieth Century, especially the Art-Deco period of the 1920s and 30s.

As well as Scandinavian items you will also find other examples of European modernist design, particularly things associated with the Bauhaus, de Stijl, and the Amsterdam School. HaresFur also seeks to highlight the work of women designers too, some famous, others less so. And you will also find a section on international studio ceramics, with a particular interest in French, Dutch, Italian and British mid-century ceramicists.

On the website you will find beautiful, stylish objects from everyday mass-produced homewares to iconic, exhibition pieces to one-off works of art and unique items. Whether you are a collector, an enthusiast for modernist design, looking to decorate your home in a scandi style, want a gift for someone, or just like something you see here I hope to have something you will love.

Stock is updated on the website at the beginning of each month. Subscribers to the free newsletter will always get an early preview of new stock before they are listed on the website.  The newsletter and blog posts on the home page are used to keep you updated on fairs in the UK where HaresFur will be selling. From time to time there will be a profile of the work of a particular designer or studio with a short, illustrated article on the blog post, often linked to related items that are for sale. You can also follow HaresFur on instagram, pinterest and twitter. Links can be found on the home-page.

Happy browsing. Do make and enquiry if you are interested in buying something or want more information on an item with no obligation to buy. Card payments are taken via a secure external system.
