Excellent condition. The striations on the sculpture are achieved by immersing the clay in a river or the sea during production.

Peter Hayes (1946 - ) Grew up and studied art in Birmingam. He travelled widely and picked up the skills of ceramics production in Africa in the 1960s working with traditional craft techniques. Since 1982 he has been based at a studio near Bath, England. His work in ceramic sculpture uses raku firing techniques as well as water immersion to produce the surface effects and is inspired by the landscape. His work is held in several museums worldwide including the National Museum of Scotland.
