This fabulous midcentury röllakan is by award-winning textile designer Ingrid Dessau and bears her initials. Woven in wool and linen in both intense and subtle shades of green, it measures 215 x 140 cm.

Excellent, clean vintage condition. There are some missed warp threads on the reverse (see last photograph) but no holes or damage.

Ingrid Dessau (1923 - 2000) was an important designer of Swedish textiles. She began her career at Kristianstads läns Hemslöjd. She also had an internship learning about rug design with Barbro Nielsen at the Maarta Maas Fjetteström studio. In 1953 Dessau, following a succesful exhibition of her work moved to Kasthall, where she became the head designer, as well as designing textiles for other companies. In 1991, she was commissioned by Klässbols linneväveri to design the table linens for the Nobel Dinner. In 2008 the Design Archive and the Textile Museum of Borås held a retrospective exhibition of her textiles and sketches. Her works are also exhibited at the National Museum in Stockholm and she has won medals and awards for her work.
