This month’s listing of new stock includes one of the most iconic pieces of Swedish Art-Deco glass. The vase, designed by the founding father of Swedish art glass, Simon Gate (1883-1945), depicts a Javanese dancer and was made by Orrefors c1930. It is one of the most beautiful, important and desirable designs from this period and is highly sought-after by collectors.

We have three other pieces of Swedish glass designed in the 1980s for Kosta. These include a blue Open Minds goblet by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien and a May tree vase and Lava bowl by Kjell Engman.

We are also very excited to include another sought-after piece, a green woven woollen rollakan rug designed by Ingrid Dessau (1923-2000). One of the biggest names in rug design from Sweden, she perfected the use of geometric patterns and produced some very fine designs.

We also continue to list a range of Poole Pottery pieces. As well as three freeform vases from the 1950s we have a rare early studio tray from 1962-64 attributed to the artistic designer Robert Jefferson and a beautiful Atlantis vase with finely controlled use of drip glaze by Guy Sydenham.

There is one further ceramic item this month, another Bauhaus influenced vase by Sweden-based ceramicists Eric and Ingrid Triller made at their Tobo studio in the 1950s.

Jewellery includes a pendant in silver and acrylic by Björn Weckström for Lapponia. Designed in 1973 this piece is known as Iguana. We also have a pair of earrings in silver and amazonite by Norwegian jewellers David Andersen, a silver pendant with a lapis lazuli stone and an Art-Deco pendant set with a rose quartz bead.

Our final item this month is a mixed media abstract artwork by Swedish artist and musician Bengt Nordqvist from 1970. One of the first paintings we sold at a fair back in 2020 was by him so it is nice to have another work by him.
