Oiva Toikka dark green glass vase with eleven facets, Nuutajärvi Notsjö, Finland 1960s. Factory signature to the base. An example of this vase appears in the catalogue of The British Museum assigned to Toikka. This is an early example of his work. The fascinating design with its odd number of facets means it looks different from each angle.

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) was a leading Finnish glass designer. he started his work at the Nuutajärvi Notsjö glass factory before moving to iittala in 1972 where he remained until his death. He is best known for his models of glass birds. Amongst his many awards he won the Lunning Prize in 1970. His work is held in museums worldwide.
