The 'Carmen' lace-like silver pendant set with a garnet was designed by Kirsti Doukas for Kalevala Koru, 2006. This design was inspired by Georges Bizet's opera Carmen and is part of the Kalevala Koru and Savonlinna Opera Festival jewellery series.

The pendant diameter is 5.5 cm (excluding the bale) and is on a 70 cm long oval ball chain. It is in excellent condition and is marked for Kalevala Koru, 925 for Sterling silver, and the Finnish control mark.

Kirsti Doukas (1964 - ) is a well-known Finnish jewellery designer. She has been designing elegant and timeless pieces for Kalevala since 1989 and was appointed as Head of Design in 2015. She was awarded awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland — an award for artists and writers.

Kalevala is a design company which was set up in the 1930s by Finnish women who began selling jewellery with the aim of funding a statue but their income was actually to help women and families who were victims of war. The company is still active and uses its dividends to support Finnish cultural work. In 2005 Kalavala acquired the acclaimed jewellery company Lapponia.
