Rectangular cushion covers, approximately 55 x 25 cm, with cushion pads included.

This vibrant cotton satin fabric with a squares pattern was designed by Marjatta Metsovaara for Tampella, Finland, in 1968. The design is known as Pritsi. The patterned fabric on these cushions is vintage with a contemporary plain black fabric on the reverse. Cool wash.

Marjatta Metsovaara (1927-2014) was a leading Finnish textile designer. She began designing fabrics in the 1950s and ran her own firm from 1954-90. She produced woollen wall hangings and printed cotton fabrics often in bold designs. She exhibited at the Milan Trienalle in 1957 and 1960 and won a gold medal at the second of these.
