Code: G450

Dimensions:

H: 11cm (4.3")Di: 19.5cm (7.7")

Henning Koppel glass bowl with internal bubbles and grey glass lozenge patterns for Orrefors, Sweden. This is an expo or Exhibition piece that is dated for 1975. Marks to the base read: Orrefors Expo K119-75 H Koppel.

Famous for his jewellery designs for Georg Jensen, Koppel's glass designs for Orrefors are quite rare. An important piece.

Excellent used condition. The green Orrefors label rather than the usual red one denotes this was sold as a factory second. This is because one of the small internal bubbles is open at the surface. Normal, minor wear from use but no chips or significant scratches.

Henning Koppel (1918-81) was a versatile Danish artist and designer who produced some of the most famous modern designs in Scandinavian jewellery for Georg Jensen in the 1940s and 1950s. His fluid, serpentine shapes and freeforms links are some of the most recognisable examples of modernist jewellery design. He also designed ceramics for Bing and Grondahl in the 1960s and glass for Orrefors in the 1970s.
