A rare design unique bowl by Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg, Sweden, c1960s. The bowl is thickly potted stoneware with glazed sides in grey and brown and with an unglazed top.  This top has applied decoration including two faces and a series of circles. The bowl is signed to the base underneath the glaze. Difficult to read but comparable to other pieces by her. There is also a small Gustavsberg sticker on the base with the letter B written on it.

Excellent used condition with no damage or restoration.

Lisa Larson (1931 - 2024) was one of Sweden's greatest ceramicists. After completing her studies in 1954 she worked at the Gustavsberg factory until 1980 before going freelance. She worked with the artistic director Stig Lindberg in the early years. Unlike many women designers of this period who were mainly employed to design tablewares, Larson focused more on art pottery including human and animal figures, wall plaques as well as ceramic vessels. She also produced some sculpture. Her work is now world renowned and widely collected.
