This beautiful Sterling silver 'Sycamore seed pod' bracelet was designed for Georg Jensen in 1953 by Bent Gabrielsen. It measures 19.5 cm and weighs approximately 64g. 

The bracelet is fully hallmarked with G.J Ld, London import mark, 925, y (for 1998). It also has the maker's mark of the Georg Jensen dotted oval 925S Denmark 115. It is in excellent condition.

Bent Gabrielsen Pedersen (1928-2014) was hired by Hans Hansen in 1953 and worked there as chief jewellery designer until 1969 before going on to set up his own workshop. He won the Lunning prize in 1964 which was considered as like the “Nobel” prize for Scandinavian design. He also won a gold medal at the Milan Triennial for design  in 1962. A number of his designed were also produced by Georg Jensen.

Georg Jensen are world renowned Danish makers of the finest quality jewellery and other items. They were named after their founder (1866-1935) and were established in Denmark in 1904. They were leading designers in the Art Nouveau period in the early Twentieth Century and later adapted their style to the fashions of the day. After World War 2 they adopted a more modernist style and worked with a number of leading designers many of whom went on to great acclaim as pioneers of the modern Scandinavian style.
