Birgitta Salenus Glöd (Glow) rya rug for NIAB, Sweden 1960s. Red and purple colours. These rugs were originally sold as kits to be hand-knotted at home. Remains of label on reverse.

Excellent condition with minimal wear. Minor stain on the reverse.

Rugs are shown in a room setting. This sale is for the rug only.

Birgitta Salenus designed rugs for NIAB from the 1950s to 1970s. During this time she designed 15 rugs for them which were sold in the Scandinavian countries and beyond as kits to be woven at home. The abstract designs are very recognisable and have a strong period feel.
